Peter Taylor-Gooby

 

Professor Peter Taylor-Gooby is a senior expert in the field of social policy and a pre-eminent scholar in the study of institutional trust in England. He is engaged in interdisciplinary research on risk, as well as comparative cross-national work on European social policy. He is highly regarded in academia and has extensive influence over the establishment of policy.


Professor Gooby is a member of The Royal Academy of Arts in England, and Professor of Social Policy at the University of Kent. He also holds academic and social positions on the Economic and Social Research Council and the European Union. From 1975 to 2006, he carried out 44 research projects backed by millions of British pounds in academic funding. He has published 21 books and 98 academic papers, completed four monographic studies and participated in the writing of over 35 chapters. He has authored 76 additional published papers.

Joshua L. Miller

     

     Professor Joshua Miller is now Professor at Smith College, USA. He is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Action Alliance of Social Welfare, the Society for Social Problems, the Psychological Society of Social Affairs and the Society of National Professors. Professor Miller is an acknowledged expert in the field of mental health after disasters and the construction of social psychological capability. He was once on the staff at the Wandsworth Service Center in Britain and the family-Society Service Center in Massachusetts. Twenty years of experience have enriched his work greatly.

Paul Terrell

   

In the first semester, 2010, our school will invite Professor Paul Terrell from the School of Social Welfare at the University of California at Berkley to teach a Ph.D. course in the discipline of social security together with Professor Zhang Xiulan.

Professor Terrell has dedicated himself to the study of social welfare throughout his career. After his retirement in 2005, he was engaged as Honorary Professor at his school and taught a course on social policy. He has rich experience in teaching and research and has published many monographs and papers in the field of social welfare, social policy and social services. Meanwhile, he wrote many book reviews related fields and authored numerous reports for the government and for international conferences.

Leonard Miller

Mr. Leonard Miller is an emeritus professor of the University of California, Berkeley, and taught in the School of Social Welfare from 1985 to 2003. His research mainly focuses on integrating economic theory and quantitative methods to estimate the efficacy of social service and health delivery systems, development, public finance, education and econometrics.
